Treatment processes

Reducing the industry’s reliance on landfill

TWMA offers a wide range of treatment processes for bulk waste streams, utilising best available technologies which are operated by experienced and fully trained TWMA personnel.

Our aim is to reduce the industry’s reliance on landfill as a disposal option and to ensure that landfill has less impact on the environment.

Treatments include:

  • Physical treatment of oily sludges and solids
  • Separation and filtration of oil water mixtures
  • Thermal desorption of drill cuttings
  • Biological treatments
  • Neutralisation of acids and alkalis
  • High temperature incineration

Under European-wide legislation, all non-hazardous waste must be treated before it can be disposed of and the Environment Agency places the responsibility for compliance on waste producers.

The process for treatment may be as simple as sorting out recyclables such as paper, plastics, metal or glass.  However, waste producers need to decide whether waste will be ‘pre-treated’ at source or treated by a waste management company.

TWMA ensures that waste producers are fully compliant with the law.  We have dedicated account managers that guide companies through the audit process and select the most effective treatment or disposal option based on the amount and types of waste generated.
