Job Purpose

To improve and maintain the appearance of the site, Engineering workshops and work areas by applying housekeeping and maintenance duties as directed by the Engineering Management team. To assist skilled staff in their activities. To collect and deliver materials, components and subassemblies.

Each body of work is to be done to high standards with regards to your own safety and that of others.

Key Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Follow safe working practices at all times.
  • Help collect and deliver materials and equipment from local suppliers using company vehicles.
  • Undertake housekeeping, basic maintenance, hand painting and other tasks as directed by the line manager.
  • Clean, inspect, dismantle, repair, reassemble, store and record basic mechanical parts, e.g. screw conveyors, valve assemblies to be ready for reuse at short notice.
  • Follow the operating instructions for equipment as laid down in the operational procedures.
  • Provide labour to assist skilled staff to efficiently perform their tasks. ¬†
  • Participate in haulage and lifting operations.
  • Participate in identifying stock and help with stock counts.
  • Help to identify ways of continually improving the way work is done at the site.

HSEQ & SEPA

  • Follow all TWMA and HSEQ/SEPA procedures.
  • Implementing and following the company quality system.
  • Address any concerns and taking appropriate actions in conjunction with TWMA procedures.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings with QHSE personnel¬†

Complying with Procedures

  • Ensure all operations comply with the Company and Client operating policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all operations comply with the Company Health and Safety policy as defined in the Company handbook.
  • Be aware of company conditions of employment as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Liaise with HR Department to assure compliance with current employee law legislation.
  • Keep up to date with other current legislation, legal requirements and regulations that apply to the company.

Experience (E = Essential D = Desirable)

  • Basic mechanical experience and interest (E)
  • Able to assess, repair and make operational for reuse basic mechanical devices (E)
  • General Handyman capability (E)
  • Basic mechanical experience and interest (E)
  • Able to assess, repair and make operational for reuse basic mechanical devices (E)
  • Basic servicing & maintaining mechanical equipment/machinery (D)
  • Working with heavy plant machinery (D)

Qualifications/Training

  • Basic academic qualifications (E)
  • Forklift Certificate (E)
  • LOLER Certificate (E)
  • Driving License (E)
  • Certificate in a relevant discipline (D)
